  • Counsel enrolled students on university life, finances, housing, and status maintenance.
  • Coordinate the AICAD Exchange program.
  • Support Global Engagement Office programs, events, and outreach.

Job description

STATUS: Part Time (20 hours / week)

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

REPORTS TO: Director of International Services and Engagement

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt

Position Description

Provides support to the Global Engagement Office through SEVIS database management, CPT/OPT processes, I20 creation, and other support as needed. Provides direct service to international students, data tracking, visa compliance monitoring, and guidance on international student enrollment requirements. Designated coordinator for the AICAD Exchange program.

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
  • Advise international students, prospective and continuing, on complex immigration regulations, including school transfers, reinstatements, employment authorization, and change of status, keeping detailed records of all processes while ensuring that the University follows required protocols.
  • Collect immigration documents from applicants and issue initial attendance I-20s for new F-1 students, along with necessary visa information and guidance.
  • Provide support for students utilizing CPT/OPT programs.
  • Counsel and assist enrolled international students on matters related to university life and the U.S. study experience, including finances, transportation, employment, health insurance, adjustment to the campus, and maintenance of student status.
  • Serve as the AICAD Exchange program coordinator.
  • Support Global Engagement Office programs, events, and outreach.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A four-year college or university degree (Bachelor’s Degree) is required.
  • 2-4 years of previous experience with non-immigrant visas and programming for international students preferred.
  • DHS requires that a Designated School Official is a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required.
