Job summary

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts seeks an Adjunct Instructor of Geographic Information Systems to teach GIS using Esri ArcGIS Pro at the undergraduate level. Courses may be in person or hybrid based on the instructor’s expertise, with emphasis on inclusive teaching for a diverse student body.

The position is part-time and temporary for the 2026-2027 academic year, starting 1/19/2027. Salary is paid per credit with a union-supported MSCA framework; visa sponsorship is not available at this

Qualifications

• MA or PhD in a related field (ABD acceptable).
• Previous experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Record of professional involvement in GIS (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach Environmental Studies 325: GIS, introducing theory and practice of GIS in Environmental Science.
• Maintain course materials and records in Canvas, MCLA's LMS.
• Hold online and in-person office hours each week.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment aligned with liberal arts values.
• Implement curriculum to meet course and departmental learning outcomes.
