Part-Time General Clerk (Customer Service)

Available Locations: 16 locations throughout Harris County

Openwork is currently assisting the Harris County Tax Office in recruiting qualified candidates for Part-Time General Clerk (Customer Service) positions. In this role, you will provide friendly, efficient, and timely front-line customer service by issuing vehicle registrations, replacement plates, and automobile titles.

Position Details:
  • Hours: 5 to 6 hours per day, within standard business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
  • Weekly Hours: 25 to 30 hours.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed.
  • Hourly Pay: $15/hour, with weekly pay.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients (both individuals and businesses) in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Process cash transactions accurately and balance cash drawers daily.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of various forms, documentation requirements, and procedures for accurate transaction processing.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, representing the Harris County Tax Office with integrity and commitment.
  • Assist with daily reports to support office operations.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
  • At least 6 months of recent experience in cash handling and data entry (within the past 2 years).
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute and demonstrate proficiency in basic math skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution (required at the time of interview).
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and excellent communication skills.

Important Information: Candidates will be required to undergo background checks, including Criminal City, State, and National checks, Drug Screening, and verification of Education and Employment, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
