The Williamsport Area School District is accepting applications for Part-Time, Fulll-time, and substitute Instructional Support Aide positions. See the job description and requirements listed below. Wages are determined by the Collective Bargaining Unit, current Substitute Aide pay is $15.25/hour, Part time Aide pay rate is $18.64 (non-degreed) to $19.95 (degreed) per hour. Interested applicants should be aware that, if hired, they would be responsible for obtaining and providing the necessary background checks and clearances as well as evidence of a physical and TB testing within the past twelve months. All fees for these requirements are the responsibility of the applicant and all clearances and health tests must be obtained prior to starting employment. EOE.
This position is primarily responsible for assisting the teacher in providing instructional services to students. Such assistance could be provided to students in regular education programs or students with special needs, which may include physical assistance, educational assistance, or both. May be required to provide assistance in the classroom, or specifically designated areas to include, but not limited to, computer labs, study halls, cafeteria and/or playgrounds. Work is performed under the supervision of a teacher (or professional staff member) and is reviewed while in progress and/or upon completion.
Subject to the provisions of No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, obtained an Associates (or higher) degree, or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics or to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. Requires previous experience and a desire to assist and work with students with various educational and physical needs. Licensed medical credentials will be required for designated positions.
This position requires participation in verbal de-escalation and non-violent physical crisis intervention training provided by the District or appropriate agency.
This position requires current first aid and CPR training when assigned to a personal care position.
This position requires demonstrated patience and the ability to relate to students, parents, and teachers in a manner that develops student confidence in benefiting from the educational process. Requires a demonstrated desire to assist and work with students who have various educational and physical needs. Has the ability to diffuse disruptive situations. Requires the ability to understand and adjust to changes in the educational environment. Knowledge of general clerical practices and procedures is required.
Heavy-Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Within normal ranges with or without correction.
Office equipment such as computers, fax machines, telephones, copiers, etc.
