Job summary

Cosentino's Sun Fresh is seeking a part-time Cashier to join the front-end team in Kansas City. The role emphasizes accurate cash handling, fast and friendly service, and adherence to store procedures. You will operate the POS system, greet customers, and maintain checkout area cleanliness.

Responsibilities include processing transactions, handling various payment methods, and assisting with stocking. Prior cash handling and customer service experience are preferred; training will be provided by

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cash handling procedures.
• Working knowledge of cash register operation.
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Obtain a liquor license and or food handlers permit as required by the county in which you are working in.
• Accurately process customer transactions using the cash register and point of sale system.
• Cash handling, including counting money, making change, and balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
• Accurately receive and process payment for purchases by various methods, including cash, check, gift cards, credit and debit cards, use of coupons, or other approved payment options.
• Follow documented procedures to correctly process payment for purchases involving government assistance programs including SNAP and WIC.
• Accurately issue customer receipts and change due to customers.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues.
• Know and comply with all governmental regulations regarding weights and measures, alcohol and tobacco sales.
• Identify products by PLUs, scale, and/or product number.
• Bagging merchandise carefully and efficiently.
• Promote sales by suggesting additional products or services.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, demonstrating cleanliness and food safety and sanitation practices.
• Stocking merchandise as needed, ensuring shelves are well-stocked and presentable.
• Demonstrate detail-oriented skills when processing transactions and handling cash.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• If directed to do so by your Office Manager or Store Director, step in to train new cashiers as part of the orientation and training process.
• Support your company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed and gaining new skills when necessary.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
