Job summary

University of Kansas in Lawrence invites applications for a part-time adjunct position in the Department of French & Italian to teach undergraduate courses in French. The appointment is non-tenure track for the Fall 2026 semester, with renewal based on needs, funding, and performance, not to exceed two consecutive semesters.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. and will join a collective bargaining environment.

Qualifications

• M.A., ABD, or Ph.D. in French or related arts or humanities discipline.
• Near native or native command of French.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced in evaluations of letters of recommendation.

Responsibilities

• Teach 1 to 4 courses at 100–400 level, 100% teaching load.
• Prepare for and attend all class meetings; arrange substitutes if absent.
• For asynchronous online courses, engage with students via videos, video chats, and emails.
• Develop assignments, administer tests, evaluate work, and provide feedback and grades.
• Conduct assessments, provide data upon request, and hold regular office hours (min. 3/week across multiple days).
• Adhere to departmental, college and university policies.
