Job summary

The University of Kansas, Department of French & Italian, seeks qualified individuals to teach part-time undergraduate courses in French. The Instructor is an instructional adjunct faculty position that is not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank.

This is a term appointment for the Fall 2026 semester. Responsibilities include teaching 1–4 courses, engaging students online or in-person, developing assessments, and maintaining regular office hours.

Qualifications

• MA/ABD/PhD in French or related humanities; Near native French; Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Bachelor of Arts in any discipline with at least ten years of French language proficiency.
• Experience in hybrid or online formats preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach 1–4 undergraduate French courses (100–400 level).
• Prepare for and attend all class meetings; arrange substitutes if absent.
• Develop assignments, administer tests, evaluate work, and provide feedback.
• Hold regular office hours (min. three per week across multiple days).
• Adhere to departmental, college, and university policies.
