Position Information

• Classification Title: Food Service Paraprofessional/Professional
• FLSA: Non-Exempt
• FTE: 0.74

Minimum Qualifications: Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications and Position Summary: Work involves routine food preparation, food service, and cleaning the food service and eating areas. Employees work under direct supervision while involved in preparation, serving, and cleaning. Employee follows written and/or oral procedures especially related to safety and food safety. Implements procedures, methods, and activities developed by others. Reports to the 4-H Dining Commons Manager. Will work towards the ServeSafe Manager's certificate to temporarily fill in as kitchen manager when full-time staff are unavailable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

• Skilled in reading, writing, and simple math.
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.

Physical Demands:

• Bend at waist and knees, lift and move items up to 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods, work with arms and hands overhead.
• Work in heat of kitchen and appliances, and in cold coolers/freezers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve food, set up buffet lines, interact with customers (35%).
2. Clean and sanitize work areas, operate dishwasher, clean chairs, tables, floors, windows, walls (35%).
3. Assist cooks in food prep and cooking (20%).
4. Other tasks as assigned (10%).
