Job summary

East Penn School District is seeking a Part Time Food Service Assistant to support meal service across school sites. The role requires following HACCP policies, maintaining records, and rotating duties from line prep to cashier and server.

A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED are required, with strong communication and reliability essential. This non-exempt, 10-month position supports the food service team and offers an opportunity to contribute to student

• Title: Food Service Assistant – Part Time
• Organizational / Labor Relationship: Collective Bargaining Agreement – East Penn School District and Foodcrafters Assocation ESP/PSEA/NEA of the East Penn School District
• Status (FLSA): 10 month position, non-exempt, hourly
• Reporting Relationships: Ascending – Food Service Leader; descending - none
• Position Summary: To assist in all areas of food service as assigned by the Coordinator or Leader.
• Qualifications: Possesses a valid Pennsylvania driver's license at all times
• Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Is able to independently read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
• Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, staff, administrators, parents and representatives of outside organizations

Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities

• Follow all HACCP and USDA food policies and regulations
• Maintain accurate and complete daily production records (meal counts, etc.)
• Rotation of all food service jobs as assigned daily including line prep, food prep, set up, cashier, clean up, dish room, catering, server and stock room
• All other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities
• Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas
• Ability to independently arrive at the designated work site and adhere to the established work schedule
• Can stand/walk for lengthy periods of time
