Job summary

City of Kingsburg is hiring a Part-Time Firefighter Paramedic to support the Fire Department’s ambulance transport program and related duties. Responsibilities include responding to alarms, providing Advanced Life Support, and assisting in education and prevention activities.

The position requires a valid California Paramedic license or National Registry, Fire Fighter I, and a Class C license with ambulance certification.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old by date of appointment.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, and an ambulance driver certificate.
• Fire Fighter I certification or completion of an approved Basic Firefighter I Academy from an Accredited Regional Training Program by California State Fire Training, or IFSAC / PROBOARD Firefighter I or Firefighter II.
• Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations certification.
• Paramedic license issued by California EMS Authority or National Registry.
• Local Paramedic accreditation in Central California EMS Agency within 45 days of appointment.
• Current certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
• Health care provider CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Responds to alarms, rescue, and emergency calls and protects life and property.
• Administers Advanced Life Support and participates in fire prevention activities.
• Participates in training, drills, and maintenance of equipment and stations.
• Assists in public education activities and community risk reduction efforts.
• Works within a command structure and follows officer directions in life-threatening situations.
• Performs vehicle operations, rescue, and extrication as needed.
• Maintains firefighting and medical equipment and conducts routine inspections.
