Overview

Under the direction of the Administrative Chair for Human Service, Fire & EMS programs, this part-time Lab Assistant position will provide support for credit and non-credit fire classes. Duties include setting up and tearing down practical evolutions and assisting the instructor with instruction when requested for classes on and off campus.

Responsibilities

Provide support for assigned classes.
1. Participate in class demonstrations, labs, and one-on-one tutoring sessions under the instructor's direction.
2. Assist in creating a classroom environment that respects diversity and demonstrates commitment to multiculturalism.
3. Identify students needing assistance and refer them to the lead instructor.
4. Stay current on curriculum content and utilize continuous quality improvement to support instruction.
5. Assist in enforcing college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
6. Set up labs with equipment and supplies for demonstrations and skill practice.
7. Demonstrate and enforce safety in classroom and lab settings.
8. Work effectively in team environments.
9. Clean up and dispose of materials and lab equipment used during instruction.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Wisconsin IFSAC Certification (FireFighter 1 or Fire Fighter 2)
2. At least 5 years of firefighter experience

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Possess a Wisconsin IFSAC Certification of Instructor and/or Driver Operator.
