Job description

Summary

The CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches is the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals 160‑acre Spring Training Complex located in West Palm Beach, Florida. In addition to the stadium, the facility includes 12 full‑size and 2 half‑size baseball fields, grass parking areas, a 12‑acre lake, and surrounding landscaped areas. We are seeking highly qualified and energetic professionals who will assist the Director of Field Operations in managing the facility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assist with dragging base paths, clay repair, and tamping of pitching mounds and home plates.
• Learn to mix clay and assist with resurfacing designated ball‑field areas.
• Water infield areas as needed.
• Assist with setting up fields for batting practice.
• Assist with pulling tarps to cover fields in inclement weather.
• Perform general cleanup of grounds and facilities, including restrooms, dugouts, concourses, parking lots, lakes, and all open use areas.
• Assist with all baseball and non‑baseball event set‑up and break‑down.
• Comply with OSHA safety standards in performing all work assignments.
• Perform manual labor including lifting heavy weights, stooping, bending, digging, and twisting to maintain facility grounds and fields.
• Assist with turf maintenance by mowing, edging, and removing debris.
• Maintain outside landscape of turf, trees, shrubs, walkways, and parking lots.
• Rake leaves and clean walkways, fields, and other facilities.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and hedge and line trimmers.
• Perform other duties related to facility maintenance as assigned by the Director of Field Operations.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Field or landscape maintenance experience preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Hiring is contingent upon passing a drug screening and background check.

Compensation

$17.00 per hour

Work Environment

The position is performed in a stadium environment. It requires working extended hours in all weather conditions, including rain and heat. The employee will spend the majority of working days on the fields and within the stadium.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk or hear and stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• Required to carry and move packages up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 60 lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis.
• Ability to use typical groundskeeping hand tools, implements, and power equipment on a regular basis for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a hands‑on position in all weather extremes for extended periods of time.

Schedule and Hours

This is a part‑time position; hours and scheduled workdays vary. Flexibility is required, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

No travel is expected for this position.
