Job description

CACTI Park of The Palm Beaches is the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals 160-acre Spring Training Complex located in West Palm Beach, Florida. The facility includes a stadium, 12 full-size and 2 half-sized baseball fields, grass parking areas, a 12-acre lake, and surrounding landscape areas. We are seeking a highly qualified, energetic professional to assist the Director of Field Operations in managing the facility.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Assist in proper execution of field preparations, including fertilization, pesticide applications, cultural practices, infield dirt surface, warning track upkeep, and all pitching mounds and home plate areas.
• Recruit, train, and effectively supervise staff members.
• Effectively communicate with Field Operations staff, players, and coaches in a professional manner.
• Ensure that all areas of play are properly prepared for daily workouts and scheduled games.
• Operate all grounds equipment safely.
• Oversee field tarp placements and ensure fields are properly prepared for any adverse weather conditions.
• Prepare facilities for off‑season use by outside groups.
• Assist with special event operation and setup.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment on the fields and around the grounds shop areas.
• Properly maintain all field equipment to extend its useful life.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibility

This position routinely supervises 4–6 employees to manage the day‑to‑day operations of the complex, overseeing grounds maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and company policies, and recruiting and effectively training staff members.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to carry and move packages up to 75 lbs.

• Ability to lift/move/carry items weighing up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 75 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Ability to use/operate typical groundskeeping hand tools, implements, and power equipment regularly for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a hands‑on position in all weather extremes for extended periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position. Hours and scheduled workdays vary. Report time is 7:00 am. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Travel is not expected for this position.
