Job summary

The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) in Huntsville, AL is seeking a part-time Family Support Specialist I to join our team and support first-time, at-risk families through the Healthy Families America home visitation model.

You will provide parent education, conduct weekly home visits, arrange transportation to appointments, and link families with community resources while maintaining accurate records and collaborating with the Healthy Families Program Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in child development or related field, or two+ years of college and related experience
• Minimum of three years of experience working with or providing services to children and families
• Experience in child development and maltreatment
• Case management experience preferred
• Excellent driving record

Responsibilities

• Meet weekly with families for home visits and teach nurturing parenting skills
• Attend online trainings and create handouts or activities for parents
• Answer calls about toddler behavior and provide advice
• Link families with community resources
• Brainstorm with colleagues to help families with parenting challenges
• Review case plans with supervisor
• Maintain accurate documentation and update case records
• Provide transportation to medical appointments or child development services
• Support logistics for weekly parenting classes
• Accompany clients to hearings or meetings with community agencies
• Other duties as assigned
