Using the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and the NY Rules of Professional Conduct, supplemented by pertinent cases and other materials, this course will examine the fundamental notions that govern the conduct of lawyers in relation to their clients, third parties and the courts.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree with expertise in advising lawyers on issues relating to professional responsibility.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and NY Rules of Professional Conduct, supplemented by pertinent cases and other materials.
  • Provide a holistic introduction to professional responsibility for a foreign law-trained lawyer working in the U.S. or with U.S. lawyers from abroad.
  • Develop a syllabus using a textbook, the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and the NY Rules of Professional Conduct, supplemented by pertinent cases and other materials.
  • Shape learning objectives that students will master by the end of the course.
  • Evaluate and grade student course performance in alignment with grading curves, providing constructive feedback.

Fordham Law School invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach a course in professional responsibility for foreign-trained LL.M. students. The expected start date is for the fall 2024 semester.

Responsibilities

Using a textbook, the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and the NY Rules of Professional Conduct, supplemented by pertinent cases and other materials, this course will examine the fundamental notions that govern the conduct of lawyers in relation to their clients, third parties and the courts.

  • Provide a holistic introduction to some of the key professional responsibility aspects that a foreign law-trained lawyer should expect to consider when working in the U.S. or dealing with U.S. lawyers from abroad.
  • Examine the fundamental notions that govern the conduct of lawyers in relation to their clients, third parties and the courts.
  • Develop a syllabus using a textbook, the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, and the NY Rules of Professional Conduct, supplemented by pertinent cases and other materials.
  • Shape a set of learning objectives that students will have mastered by the end of the course.
  • Evaluate and grade student course performance in alignment with the appropriate grading curves, providing constructive feedback to foster students’ understanding of core concepts.

The salary range for this job is $2,000-$15,000 per semester, dependent on the number of credits offered, experience and practice area.
