Overview

Part-time Faculty Pool: Assistant Coach

Salary: $65.60 - $84.79 Hourly. Job Type: Part Time. Location: Merced College, CA. Job Number: 20250009. Closing: 6/30/2026 11:59 PM Pacific. Department: Athletics. Coaches are paid via stipend. Open pool for academic year 2025-2026. Additional compensation for Doctorate.

Merced College is dedicated to innovation, student success, and professional growth. This is a part-time coaching assignment in the Athletics area under the general direction of the Director of Athletics.

Responsibilities
  • Provide innovative and effective instruction in accordance with current pedagogy and established course outlines and expectations.
  • Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance policies; maintain regular and substantive contact with students.
  • Maintain and submit required student attendance and scholastic records on the Learning Management System (e.g., grades and syllabi).
  • Utilize the Learning Management System to deliver, prepare, and grade class assignments and examinations.
  • Maintain and utilize effective skills in instructional design, applications, and methods.
  • Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy.
  • Participate in the development and review of curriculum.
  • Participate in the development of teaching-learning methods and materials.
  • Participate in departmental, area, and campus professional activities/committees.
  • Represent the college within the Merced community and professional circles.
  • Participate in the college\'s learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments to continually improve student learning outcomes.
Typical Qualifications
  • Required:
  • Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a Master\'s degree.
  • Any Bachelor\'s degree and two years of professional experience in the field (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, Volleyball, or Water Polo) OR
  • Any Associate\'s degree and six years of professional experience in the field.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
  • Preferred:
  • Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and willingness to pursue future technological developments.
