Part-time Faculty Pool: Assistant Coach
Salary: $65.60 - $84.79 Hourly. Job Type: Part Time. Location: Merced College, CA. Job Number: 20250009. Closing: 6/30/2026 11:59 PM Pacific. Department: Athletics. Coaches are paid via stipend. Open pool for academic year 2025-2026. Additional compensation for Doctorate.
Merced College is dedicated to innovation, student success, and professional growth. This is a part-time coaching assignment in the Athletics area under the general direction of the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities
- Provide innovative and effective instruction in accordance with current pedagogy and established course outlines and expectations.
- Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance policies; maintain regular and substantive contact with students.
- Maintain and submit required student attendance and scholastic records on the Learning Management System (e.g., grades and syllabi).
- Utilize the Learning Management System to deliver, prepare, and grade class assignments and examinations.
- Maintain and utilize effective skills in instructional design, applications, and methods.
- Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy.
- Participate in the development and review of curriculum.
- Participate in the development of teaching-learning methods and materials.
- Participate in departmental, area, and campus professional activities/committees.
- Represent the college within the Merced community and professional circles.
- Participate in the college\'s learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments to continually improve student learning outcomes.
Typical Qualifications
- Required:
- Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a Master\'s degree.
- Any Bachelor\'s degree and two years of professional experience in the field (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, Volleyball, or Water Polo) OR
- Any Associate\'s degree and six years of professional experience in the field.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.
- Preferred:
- Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and willingness to pursue future technological developments.
