Job summary

Palomar College in San Marcos seeks qualified part-time instructors to teach Nutritional Science courses. Assignments may include day, evening or weekend classes at the San Marcos campus or off-campus locations and via distance education.

Applicants must meet one of the specified minimum qualifications, including a Master’s in nutrition or related field, or a Bachelor’s plus a Master’s in chemistry, public health or family studies; or a registered dietitian credential.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under 1) through 4):
• A Master’s in nutrition, dietetics or dietetics and food administration.
• A Bachelor’s in any of the above AND a Master’s in chemistry, public health or family and consumer studies/home economics.
• A Bachelor’s in nutrition, dietetics, or dietetics and food administration, AND a certification as a registered dietitian, pursuant to Title 5, Section 53410.1 of the California Code of Regulations.
• A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in 1) through 3) above.

Responsibilities

• Teach Nutritional Science courses as assigned within the discipline.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, assessments and class activities.
• Meet all pre-employment requirements and maintain professional competencies.

Work Schedule

Initial Placement Hourly Range: $75.81 – $119.20 (instructional); $74.60 – $117.69 (non-instructional)

Part-time faculty employees are eligible to elect membership in one of the following retirement plans:

The Design and Manufacturing Technologies department is seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach Nutritional Science. Teaching assignment(s) may include any of the curriculum approved courses within the discipline of Nutritional Science/Dietetics.

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under 1) through 4):

• A Master’s in nutrition, dietetics or dietetics and food administration.
• A Bachelor’s in any of the above AND a Master’s in chemistry, public health or family and consumer studies/home economics.
• A Bachelor’s in nutrition, dietetics, or dietetics and food administration, AND a certification as a registered dietitian, pursuant to Title 5, Section 53410.1 of the California Code of Regulations.
• A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in 1) through 3) above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form ( www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/ ), if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service. Supervision Received

Part-time faculty members receive supervision from the Division Dean and direction from the Department Chair.

Part-time faculty members are not to exceed a load of 67%.
