Job description

Part‑Time Faculty – Interior Design

Join the faculty community at Portland Community College (PCC). PCC is Oregon’s largest post‑secondary institution, serving roughly 80,000 students across four campuses and 200 community locations.

Positions are open for individuals who can establish residence in Oregon or Washington. PCC will provide reasonable accommodations for the hiring process. PCC is not currently able to provide visa sponsorship.

Role Overview

Part‑time faculty assignments in Interior Design. Assigned courses may be lectures, labs, or combined lecture/lab units. Faculty may also be called upon for substitute or full‑term class assignments during the academic year. This is a “interest pool” posting; the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs.

Responsibilities
  • Teach interior design courses in accordance with PCC’s course catalog.
  • Develop course materials, assignments, and assessment tools.
  • Adhere to PCC policies on grading, academic integrity, and student support.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and course materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the interior design program.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in interior design or a related field.
  • Related fields may include architecture, kitchen and bath design, lighting design, and textiles.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for any degrees listed in the Qualification section.
  • Credentials must be earned at a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an accredited foreign institution equivalent to U.S. regional accreditation.
  • Credentials from other countries must be evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services‑approved agency.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly rates are determined by the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
  • New hires begin at Step1 of the salary schedule.
  • Part‑time faculty may be eligible for Oregon sick leave and retirement savings plans.
  • Veteran’s preference is available for qualifying veterans and disabled veterans; documentation must be submitted during the application process.
Background Check & Security

All hires are contingent upon a successful criminal background check. The Annual Security Report complying with the Clery Act is available on the Department of Public Safety website.
