Join Our Team

Portland Community College (PCC) is looking to build a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool for its Gerontology Department at the Sylvania Campus. The pool will be used to fill substitute and full‑term class assignments as needs arise during the Academic Year. PCC currently limits employment to individuals residing in Oregon or Washington.

Program & Who We Are Looking For

We welcome candidates who are interested in teaching Gerontology courses and who can demonstrate the professional, academic, and experiential qualifications required for the role. Applications should include a list of PCC courses that the applicant is prepared to teach.

Instructor Qualifications

• Gerontology instructor qualifications are course‑specific. Candidates must meet the standards outlined on the Gerontology Instruction Qualifications page.
• Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent foreign institution. Transcripts from foreign credentials must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation agency.
• All new faculty will be required to submit official transcripts within two weeks of the offer date.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rates start at Step1 of the current salary schedule; rates are determined by the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
• Eligible part‑time faculty may receive Oregon Sick Leave and access to PCC retirement savings plans.
• Veterans and disabled veterans are given preference in hiring; documentation is required during the application process.
