Job summary

PCC Portland Community College is seeking Part-Time Faculty in Composition and Literature to join an interest pool for potential assignments during the academic year. Candidates must be residents of Oregon or Washington or be able to establish residency in those states.

A suitable candidate will hold an MFA, MA, or PhD in relevant fields and have taught at least four college-level composition classes.

Part‑Time Faculty – Composition and Literature (Interest Pool)

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for part‑time faculty assignments in Composition and Literature. The department will review applications and assign instructors as needed for substitute or full‑term class assignments during the academic year. This is an interest pool, not a specific open posting.

Applicants must be residents of Oregon or Washington, or must be able to establish residence in those states.

Instructor Qualifications

• Education: MFA, MA or PhD in English, Literature, or Rhetoric/Composition, OR an MA or PhD in an interdisciplinary field with at least 30 graduate quarter credits in English, Literature, or Rhetoric/Composition.
• Experience: Have taught at least four college‑level composition classes or have equivalent classroom experience (e.g., mentoring or internship).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching writing and/or literature at the lower‑division collegiate level.
