Title: Part-Time Faculty- ESL English Basic Skills Instructor

Department: English Lang Learn & Adult Ed

Campus Location: Off campus

Salary Range: $26.50-$28.50/hr

Work Mode: This position requires some regular in-person presence on campus and at alternative locations, depending on class schedule and other assigned duties.

Work Schedule: Evening and Saturday morning classes available

Position Type: Part-Time Faculty, Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The English Language Learning program is seeking part-time ESOL instructors to teach evening and Saturday morning classes in our English Basic Skills (EBS) program for the upcoming winter semester beginning in January. EBS classes range from beginning to high intermediate proficiency levels and focus on developing language competency, life skills, and cultural knowledge. We are currently seeking instructors to teach evening classes in the Brooklyn Park, Glen Burnie, Crofton, Annapolis and Laurel areas.

Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to give a short teaching demonstration. Please mention your schedule availability and location preferences in your cover letter.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in TESOL, education, or related field.
One year experience teaching TESOL or related subject.
Availability to teach two evenings per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) or on Saturday mornings.
Experience working with populations from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Proficiency using computers and classroom technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Competency in Spanish is a plus.
