Position: Part-Time Faculty position - Composition

Discipline: English Composition

Department: Language and Literature

Campuses: Newtown, Upper Bucks, Lower Bucks, Online/Remote

Part-time faculty position to teach all levels of English Composition courses on campus during the day. Classes could be at Newtown, Bristol, Perkasie campus locations, online, or remote. The Part-time Composition faculty will plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction based on the approved course outline by selecting and utilizing a variety of approved course materials. The faculty member will employ teaching methods that address all learning modalities to ensure that the needs of individual students are met.

Major Job Duties

  • Knowledge of course development, instruction, and evaluation. Knowledgeable in student learning using appropriate methods.

  • Conduct an engaging classroom based on the course outline.

  • Motivate students by demonstrating sensitivity to concerns and actively involving students in classroom discussions and/or activities.

  • Make arrangements for equipment and supplies, or other activities as needed.

  • Complete all course assessments as required.

  • Use technology to enhance teaching/learning in the classroom.

  • Participating in the assessment process

  • Maintaining current knowledge of the professional discipline

  • Maintaining appropriate expertise and competence through continuing professional development

  • Attend Fall-In-service session and professional development requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, M.F.A. in Creative Writing, or highly related field.

  • To teach COMP110 or COMP111, M.A. in English, Composition/Rhetoric, or M.F.A. in Creative Writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Community College teaching experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant teaching experience
