  • Uphold professional conduct and ethics for the position.
  • Advise students on academic matters.
  • Maintain competency in the field.

Education

Master's degree in speech, speech broadcasting, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication
Bachelor's degree in any of the above fields AND a Master’s degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English; or the equivalent

Representative Duties
Basic Functions

Under the direction of the appropriate Dean, this position is a part-time temporary instructional faculty assignment. This role is best suited for an exceptionally motivated candidate who demonstrates genuine interest in engaging with a diverse student body and possesses a deep‑seeded passion for fostering academic growth and knowledge. Your commitment to creating an environment that actively promotes diversity and inclusion will be a fundamental cornerstone in this role. This position provides a unique chance to leave a lasting impact on our diverse academic community.

  • Provide instruction in accordance with approved Imperial Valley College curriculum and established course outlines and as assigned based on the needs of the college.
  • Conduct classes, prepare classes, evaluate students, develop course syllabi, assess and evaluate student learning outcomes, and perform other related duties.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports).
  • Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
  • Advise students on academic matters.
  • Maintain competency in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in speech, speech broadcasting, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above fields AND a Master’s degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English; or the equivalent.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (AB 1725, 87360a).
