Job Description

The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently acceptingapplications for possible openings as a part-time faculty memberteaching Construction and Skilled trades. We are seeking anenthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree ofprofessionalism, a strong commitment to our students, anddemonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engagingmanner.

  • The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA”does not constitute an assignment.
  • The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academicjudgment and shall be determined at Management’s solediscretion.
  • During the academic year part-time faculty at MontgomeryCollege may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hour)per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year.
  • During summer part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teachno more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hour) for both sessionscombined.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses related to construction and the buildingtrades.
  • Most of our courses involve hands-on lab activities incarpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and buildingmaintenance.
  • Courses are offered days, evenings, and weekends.
Required Qualifications:
  • Professional licensure/certification or equivalent experiencein the following construction trades: Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC,General Remodeling; or a combination of education, training,credentials and/or experience that meets the needs and requirementsof the department. '
  • Willingness to teach in non-traditional settings (off-campus,weekends, evenings and accelerated).
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment topromoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in aneducational and work environment and must be willing to contributeto the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personalcomputer with virus protection that can connect to the internetoutside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, collegecampus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account andaccess to the learning platform, password-protected facultysections of the website, college listservs, and other facultycommunications tools. *If you do not have access to a personalcomputer, please notify the department chair at the time ofinterview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able toprovide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without asponsor.

For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your educationequivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluationservice, must be included in your application.

Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College haspayroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
