Job summary

State of Missouri is seeking a part-time laborer to assist in building, grounds maintenance, and various trades tasks across state facilities. The role supports OA-FMDC’s Facilities Operations Team and emphasizes safe, efficient work aligned with project objectives.

You will perform semi-skilled maintenance, grounds care, and light repairs while traveling to facilities within a 2-hour radius and adhering to OSHA standards where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform semi-skilled work in alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Maintain grounds with horticultural care, debris disposal, and snow removal.

This person will ensure the project is completed in alignment with project objectives and expectations and supports the mission and vision of FMDC. This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Facilities Operations Team. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

  • Prioritize excellent customer service for a wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
  • Complete a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings, facilities vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintain grounds for buildings overseen through horticultural care, miscellaneous debris and trash disposal, snow removal and salt application.
  • Perform manual labor in connection with the receiving, handling, and storing of building materials and other similar items.
  • Assist in cleaning of parking lots and patching and painting asphalt.
  • Perform light electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs (including drywall and or painting).
  • Execute assignments in the form of work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Receive general supervision from a maintenance and/or specialized trades supervisor.
  • Travel to other facilities (within a 2-hour radius) to provide occasional assistance.
  • Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
  • Answer emergency calls and occasionally travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance.
  • Provide coverage at state facilities after hours and/or for emergency purposes (i.e., severe weather, snow removal, water leaks, fire, and more) to ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained and cleared for team members and the public to conduct state business.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Ability to understand and carry out time-sensitive instructions independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to properly lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate gas- and hand-powered lawn maintenance tools and equipment.
  • General knowledge of grounds keeping, trades work, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to operate mowing machinery, tractors, and/or motorized equipment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.
  • Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. (OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred, but FMDC can provide if needed.)

If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
