Job summary

State of Missouri's Office of Administration, Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) is seeking a part-time laborer to assist in grounds maintenance, general trades, and related tasks across multiple sites.

You will perform semi-skilled work in alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and grounds, with duties including snow removal, care of landscapes, and light electrical/plumbing/carpentry as needed.

Qualifications

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work across facilities and grounds.
• Operate lawn tools and light equipment safely and efficiently.
• Possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license; travel may be required within a 2-hour radius.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize customer service for internal and external stakeholders.
• Complete semi-skilled maintenance and repair on buildings, vehicles, and equipment.
• Maintain grounds through horticultural care, debris removal, snow removal and salt application.
• Perform manual labor related to receiving, handling, and storing materials.
• Assist in cleaning parking lots and patching/painting asphalt.

This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Facilities Operations Team. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

• Prioritize excellent customer service for a wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
• Complete a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings, facilities vehicles, and equipment.
• Maintain grounds for buildings overseen through horticultural care, miscellaneous debris and trash disposal, snow removal and salt application.
• Perform manual labor in connection with the receiving, handling, and storing of building materials and other similar items.
• Assist in cleaning of parking lots and patching and painting asphalt.
• Perform light electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs (including drywall and or painting).
• Execute assignments in the form of work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Receive general supervision from a maintenance and/or specialized trades supervisor.
• Travel to other facilities (within a 2-hour radius) to provide occasional assistance.
• Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
• Answer emergency calls and occasionally travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance.
• Provide coverage at state facilities after hours and/or for emergency purposes (i.e., severe weather, snow removal, water leaks, fire, and more) to ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained and cleared for team members and the public to conduct state business.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned
• Ability to understand and carry out time-sensitive instructions independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
• Ability to properly lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate gas- and hand-powered lawn maintenance tools and equipment.
• General knowledge of grounds keeping, trades work, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to operate mowing machinery, tractors, and/or motorized equipment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.
• Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. (OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred, but FMDC can provide if needed.)

If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
