Job summary

My Place Home For The Homeless is seeking a diligent Custodian - Part-Time to provide maintenance and routine cleaning for our shelter and an eight-unit apartment building. You will coordinate with contractors, perform small repairs, and ensure safe, clean facilities under supervision.

Responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, maintaining equipment and supplies, and assisting with tenant needs while prioritizing safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good physical fitness required.
• Prior janitorial and apartment maintenance preferred but will consider trade school certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular cleaning duties including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
• Handle garbage and recyclables collection and disposal.
• Maintain maintenance needs list and prioritize safety concerns.
• Coordinate with contractors/vendors for larger projects under supervision.
• Secure bid offers and compare vendor options.
• Assist tenants and ensure compliance with procedures for maintenance requests.
• Inspect building systems (smoke/CO detectors, alarms, cameras) and perform basic repairs.
• Set up and stage rooms for events and maintain storage inventory.
• Assist with snow removal and safe entry/exit paths for facilities.
