Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to maintain cleanliness and order across the main building and exterior areas. Under supervision, duties include light maintenance, meeting setup, and supply orders, aligned with YMCA policies.

Responsibilities emphasize safe, thorough cleaning, proper reporting of repairs, and supporting events while ensuring secure premises and readiness for activities.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• Minimum age 16 years.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe use.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Models relationship-building skills with participants, parents, staff and leadership.
• Maintains regular, clear communication within area of responsibility.
• Maintains a safe environment; keeps YMCA attractive and clean per daily schedule.
• Operates related cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Assists with maintenance tasks as requested and reports repairs.
• Ensures building and property are secure during shift and reports hazards.
• Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies; sets up furniture for events.
• Available to work nights and weekends to fill shifts and support staff.
• Stocking supplies to maintain facility readiness.
• Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
