Job summary

DaMar Staffing seeks a Part-Time Medical Biller / Coding Specialist for a busy eye care practice in Champaign, IL. The role handles insurance billing and coding, with 25-30 hours per week, within 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities include verifying coverage, submitting CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS, posting payments, and appealing denials. Flexible scheduling and a collaborative healthcare environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Medical billing and coding experience required.
• Experience with optometry/ophthalmology or healthcare billing preferred.
• Proficient CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Familiarity with EMR and billing software.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance coverage for vision and medical plans.
• Review charts to ensure accurate coding and claim submission.
• Submit electronic and paper claims using CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS.
• Post insurance and patient payments in the billing system.
• Review EOBs and reconcile payments.
• Investigate and resolve denied/ delayed / unpaid claims.
• File claim appeals and communicate with insurers.
• Contact patients about balances and payment arrangements.
• Generate patient statements and assist with collections.
• Coordinate with providers to support proper coding and documentation.
• Maintain HIPAA and billing-compliance standards.
