Job summary

Durham Academy is seeking dedicated, energetic, experienced and creative people to substitute in the Extended Day program for pre-K to eighth grade. The role focuses on guiding play, fostering healthy social and emotional development, and supporting classroom routines in a low-structure after-school setting.

Duties include supervising snack, preparing materials, organizing spaces, tracking attendance, and assisting with homework and enrichment activities.

Qualifications

• The candidate should be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities are essential.
• Excellent communication and rapport-building with children, families and staff are required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide children during after-school activities.
• Support healthy social and emotional development through play and interactions.
• Assist with snack, classroom setup/cleanup and material preparation.
• Track attendance and assist with homework and enrichment activities.
• Communicate regularly with families and Extended Day Director.
