Job summary

Carolina Hurricanes are seeking Event Experience Staff to ensure safe, enjoyable events for guests and staff. You will assist at entrances, enforce access, screen guests and tickets, and help with crowd management across the venue.

Responsibilities include de-escalation when needed, handling complaints, and maintaining professionalism throughout shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the event (4–7 hours) and walk/maneuver for at least ½ mile.
  • Applicants must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as event schedule dictates.
  • Must be available to work 60% of scheduled events per month.

  • Respond to guest complaints calmly and professionally during events.

Job description

Event Experience Staff will be responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for guests, fellow employees, team members, performers, and all other event personnel. Responsibilities include providing the primary level of guest assistance at the building entrances, enforcing building and restricted area access, screening guests and checking tickets, providing guests with needed information on all aspects of the facility, and assisting with crowd management throughout the event.

Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Perform security screenings and bag checks via walk-through metal detectors, wanding, and x-ray machines
  • Ticket scanning
  • Credential checks throughout the venue including restricted areas
  • Identifying and addressing unsafe or disorderly conduct through the use of de-escalation tactics or other best-practice methods
  • Handle minor problems and guest complaints in a calm, professional, courteous and timely manner
  • Remain standing throughout the event unless directed otherwise with hands out of pockets (no slouching or leaning on railings, walls, chairs, etc.) Starting pay is $13.00 per hour
Required Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work in areas of high elevation (above crowd and media seating areas) within the facility.
  • Ability to interact with fellow employees and the general public in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the event (between 4-7 hours) and walk/maneuver for at least ½ of a mile.
  • Duties may involve squatting, kneeling, or climbing stairs.
  • Applicants must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to remain alert and observant in order to prevent accidents, safety problems and illegal entry into the facility.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather and temperatures, as some spots are outside of the arena, and some inside positions are cooler due to proximity to the ice level.
  • Ability to handle stressful or emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as event schedule dictates.
  • Must be available to work 60% of scheduled events per month.
