Job summary

Aramark Corporation in Durham, NC, is hiring a Part-Time Custodian / Janitorial Worker to keep a school facility clean, safe, and ready for students and staff each day. In this role you will clean classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas while following established safety and cleaning procedures.

Shifts are primarily afternoon and evening, typically 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with physical tasks throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Physical cleaning tasks must be possible throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, push, pull, and lift.
• Pass background screening for a school environment.
• Preferred: custodial experience and knowledge of cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, cafeterias, and other assigned areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces according to cleaning schedules
• Collect, transport, and dispose of trash and recycling in designated locations
• Restock restroom, classroom, and janitorial supplies as needed
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, floor care tools, and cleaning carts
• Follow established cleaning procedures, chemical handling guidelines, and safety requirements
• Identify and report maintenance, safety, or facility issues through the appropriate process
• Assist with deep cleaning projects, event setup/cleanup, and seasonal cleaning activities
• Help secure the facility by locking and unlocking designated areas as required
• Maintain a clean, professional, and safe environment for students, staff, visitors, and coworkers
• Work independently while also supporting team cleaning goals
• Follow OSHA, company, and site-specific safety standards at all times
• This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
