Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking an ESL Title III Part-time Teaching Assistant for the Western Hills Lower School in San Antonio, TX. This role supports the ESL Coordinator and ESL teacher by ensuring compliance with federal ESL requirements and by assisting with student needs in the ESL classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience with emergent bilingual students preferred.
• Knowledge of ESL program requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists the ESL Coordinator and ESL Teacher in adhering to federal administrative requirements of the English as a Second Language Program.
• Assists the ESL Coordinator lead teacher in ensuring that the physical safety, emotional, social, and educational needs of the students are met.
• Works under the supervision of an ESL Certified teacher.
• Works in coordination with all teachers, staff, and administration on campus.
• Implements lesson plans created by an ESL-certified teacher that provide support for emergent bilinguals with their academic English development.
• Assists the ESL Coordinator / Teacher with preparing materials for daily small group ELAR lessons with emergent bilinguals.
• Provides support with individualized accommodations for identified emergent bilingual students as directed.
• Planning of annual and reclassification assessments for emergent bilingual students.
• All teaching and support will take place in the ESL classroom only.
