Job summary

Hospital for Special Care seeks a Barn Assistant at Manes & Motions Therapeutic Riding Center to care for riding horses, feed, administer supplements/meds, and manage stalls.

The role requires daily attention to horse health, adherence to program schedules, and collaboration with coordinators. Stand/walk most of shift, outdoor work, and physical tasks are involved. 3 hours weekly is noted in scheduling.

Qualifications

• Required: Ability to take a horse's vital signs and identify health concerns, illnesses and unsoundness.
• Required: One year experience in the field of equine care.
• Preferred: High School Diploma.
• Preferred: At least two years horse ownership experience.

Responsibilities

• Care for horses daily, including feeding and administering supplements/meds.
• Muck stalls and paddocks; clean feed and water buckets.
• Monitor health and soundness; report concerns to coordinator.
• Turn horses in/out per program schedules and weather conditions.
• Follow farrier/vet/dentist schedules.
