Job summary

An environmental education organization based in New York City is seeking part-time Environmental Educators to deliver field trips at their new Environmental Education Center. The role includes teaching students grades 3-12 hands-on lessons about sustainability and the environment. Part-time educators will work a flexible schedule, averaging 28 hours per week, with an option to transition to full-time in June 2026. A Bachelor's degree and relevant teaching experience are required, with a pay rate of $40 per hour.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of work experience teaching in formal or non-formal settings.

Responsibilities

• Teaching Solar One’s curriculum to students in grades 3‑12 at S1EEC during field trips.
• Teaching off‑site at libraries, schools, or community centers as required.
• Teaching and co‑developing family programming at S1EEC.
• Assisting with S1EEC community outreach.
• Assisting with data collection and analysis for citizen science programming.

Skills

Knowledge of soil and plant ecology

Experience working with children in underserved urban communities

Knowledge of climate, sustainability, science, and the environment

Excellent communication skills

Strong customer service skills

Strong organization skills and attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Education
