Position Title: Mahony Foundation Environmental Engineering Research Coordinator (Part-Time)
Position Summary: The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at Manhattan University seeks applications for a part-time (20 hours per week) Environmental Engineering Research Coordinator. The coordinator will support environmental engineering faculty by mentoring and assisting students involved in environmental engineering and science research.
Reports to: Chairperson of Civil & Environmental Engineering Department
Responsibilities:
Mentor, advise, and support environmental engineering and science research students
Maintain environmental engineering laboratory equipment
Supervise and support undergraduate research students in the environmental engineering laboratories
Train research students on the proper use of laboratory instrumentation and on laboratory procedures
Ensure that the drinking water pilot plant and the wastewater water pilot plant are fully operational for student research
Maintain the working order of laboratory instrumentation used for student research. This includes routine servicing and calibration of laboratory instruments, troubleshooting, working with on-line technical support and/or arranging for on-site technical service when needed
Handle ordering of supplies for student research
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field
Ability to advise undergraduate and graduate research students on environmental engineering or science research projects
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering:
Civil and Environmental Engineering is the largest academic department in the University and home to the largest Civil Engineering undergraduate program in New York City. The department offers graduate (Masters) degree programs in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering. The faculty members of the department possess expertise in a wide range of fields and have strong ties to the civil, environmental, and construction industries in the region.
The Environmental Engineering Laboratories within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department are a newly renovated 6800 square foot space for teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses and for conducting environmental engineering research. The laboratory facilities are equipped with equipment and instrumentation for undergraduate teaching, graduate teaching, and research needs.
