Job summary

South Island Gastroenterology Services in Lawrence, NY seeks a Part Time Medical Assistant - Endoscopy to support physicians during endoscopic procedures. Responsibilities include preparing and sterilizing equipment, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process.

The role requires a High School diploma, BLS, and experience in a hospital or endoscopy setting. Endoscopy certification is not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in hospital or outpatient endoscopy settings preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and endoscopy terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize endoscopic equipment before and after procedures.
• Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures by handling instruments and monitoring patient status.
• Set up procedure rooms with supplies and ensure devices function correctly.
• Explain procedures to patients and monitor vital signs during and after procedures.
• Maintain documentation of procedures and equipment maintenance in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure tools availability.
