  • Log employee relations incidents accurately within the Dayforce HRIS system.
  • Support tracking and follow-up for both part-time and full-time attendance cases.
  • Assist with the offboarding process, including drafting exit emails and thorough documentation.
  • Support routine performance documentation reviews and PIP follow-ups.
  • Assist with unemployment claim documentation.

Title: Part-Time Employee Relations Specialist

Location: Manhattan, NYC (Hybrid)

Schedule: M-F 9am-12pm

Employment Type: Contract

Pay: $23.00–$27.00/hour

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, empathetic, and detail-oriented Employee Relations Specialist to provide crucial contract support to the Human Resources team. This role is designed to deliver additional employee relations, compliance, and performance management support within a dynamic non-profit educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations Support
  • Conduct initial fact-gathering and documentation for low-to-moderate workplace investigations.
  • Draft professional warning letters, coaching memos, and formal documentation summaries.
  • Log employee relations incidents accurately within the Dayforce HRIS system.
  • Support tracking and follow-up for both part-time and full-time attendance cases.
  • Assist with the offboarding process, including drafting exit emails and ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Support routine performance documentation reviews, such as Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) follow-ups.
  • Assist with compiling necessary documentation for unemployment claims.
Policy & Compliance Support
  • Track the completion of Employee Handbook policy acknowledgments and systematically follow up with outstanding employees.
  • Monitor Sexual Harassment Training completion compliance, sending reminders to pending employees and managers.
  • Follow up with staff to ensure mandated reporter training is completed prior to organizational deadlines.
  • Assist with the documentation and tracking of workplace accommodation requests.
Performance Management & Staff Surveys
  • Support the launch of performance management cycles (PEP) directly within Dayforce.
  • Audit full-time PEP reviews and professional goals to ensure organizational consistency and alignment.
  • Partner with managers and staff to drive the completion of all outstanding PEP deliverables.
  • Assist with generating survey reports and driving employee participation across internal surveys.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 1–2 years of dedicated experience in employee relations or an HR support capacity
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with HRIS systems (Dayforce or Workday highly preferred), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and payroll software.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptionally detail-oriented, strong communicator, and able to approach sensitive situations with deep empathy. Must be direct yet flexible in communication delivery.
