Job Description:

The University of Florida Pet Emergency Treatment Services (UF PETS) is seeking a self-motivated and compassionate part-time veterinary technician to become part of our team.

A successful applicant should be seeking a part-time flexible schedule and enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt to a changing environment. A person in this position must possess a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine, excellent nursing skills, and an interest in assisting teaching staff and students.

This position is considered essential personnel and requires a post-offer health assessment.

Compensation: $20.00 - $32.00 hourly; Competitive salary based on credentialing and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience.
  2. Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and/or certified veterinary technician.
  2. Knowledge of animal care and nursing, especially critical care.
  3. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and terminology.
  4. Knowledge of the equipment and materials used and their availability and applications.
  5. Ability to effectively maintain a working environment while in stressful situations.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate with employees of various levels and responsibilities.
  7. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations involving money.
