Job summary

Weldon Elementary School is seeking a dedicated tutor to provide targeted academic support to middle and high school students in a part-time, temporary role. You will collaborate with teachers and administrators to deliver individualized or small-group instruction aligned with classroom goals.

The Tutor will create a positive, inclusive learning environment, employ varied instructional strategies, monitor progress, and help students develop ownership of their learning.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work effectively with middle/high school students.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of the academic subject(s) to be tutored.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and maintain boundaries.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and/or small-group tutoring to students in assigned subject areas.
• Reinforce concepts and skills taught by classroom teachers.
• Assist students with understanding assignments, developing study strategies, organizing coursework, and preparing for assessments.
• Use appropriate instructional strategies to address varied learning styles, academic needs, and skill levels.
• Monitor student participation, progress, and areas of continued need.
• Communicate regularly with classroom teachers and appropriate school personnel regarding student needs and progress.
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student participation, and progress as required by the school.
• Encourage students to set realistic academic goals and develop strategies for achieving them.
