Atlanta Technical College seeks an Adjunct Instructor for the Electrical Technologies Program on a part-time basis. The role involves guiding students through theory and hands-on activities, delivering engaging lessons, and assessing progress on campus in Atlanta, GA.

The instructor will teach circuits, wiring, and related topics, maintain safety standards, and contribute to student recruitment and placement efforts. Up to 29 hours per week flexibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and demonstrate a High School Diploma or equivalent AND be a Licensed Electrician with other credentials such as a diploma in the electrical field from an accredited institution with five (5) or more years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of student information systems or previous teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the proper use of appropriate teaching techniques.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping materials.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching knowledge in teaching Electrical technology in subject areas such as residential and commercial wiring, pipe bending, fundamentals of AC and DC current, etc.
  • Demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills.
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for general core courses.
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Follows approved course syllabus.
  • Monitors students' use of supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
  • Establishes and ensures adherence to health and safety requirements in assigned classrooms and laboratories in accordance with institutional and industry safety guidelines.
  • Attend meetings as required and appropriate.
  • Observe and enforce the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Assists with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
