A leading educational institution is seeking a part-time Educational Assistant to support a student with a mobility impairment during the Fall 2025 Semester. Job Description and Position Requirements

Student Disability Resources (SDR) is looking for a part-time Educational Assistant for a student who has a mobility impairment taking courses during the Fall 2025 Semester. The individual hired for this role will assist the student with classroom-based writing and materials organization to ensure access to lecture and classroom information. In addition, they will also assist with completing homework assignments outside of class.

Primary duties include:

Scribe
  • Act as a scribe for the student. Handwrite or type the content according to the student's exact instructions.
Materials Organization
  • Finding and organizing in-class materials (e.g., text, PowerPoint slides, problem sets, graphics) for synchronous use with the instructor and class.
  • Assisting the student before or after class in meeting with the instructor to get clarification of material and information, as needed.
Other
  • Other tasks as assigned by SDR.

Requirements:

  • Time commitment:
    • Attend scheduled class sessions in-person, on the Penn State University Park Campus.
    • Able to schedule time outside of class to work on course assignments.
    • Able to work an estimated 15 to 20 hours per week.
  • Previous experience working with individuals who have disabilities is preferred but not required.

Additional Notes

  • All job-related training will be provided prior to the start of the semester.
  • The individual hired for this role is not responsible for individually teaching course material.
