Job summary

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a part-time School and Community Programmer to support educational programming onsite at the zoo and off-site at schools and community organizations. You will write curriculum, lead interpretive talks, demonstrate animals, and develop new programming.

Prior experience leading classrooms or informal education is preferred. This role reports to the School and Community Program Coordinator and requires a 21+ age, valid driver's license, and compliance with

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
• College experience up to sophomore year preferred and experience leading classrooms or teaching in informal education settings.
• Background and experience in animal sciences, education, environmental or natural sciences a plus.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
• Pre-employment screening and background check are required.
• The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

Responsibilities

• Support all educational programming and act as primary facilitator.
• Teach on zoo grounds, at schools, and with community organizations.
• Write curriculum for program areas.
• Provide interpretive talks and animal demonstrations.
• Create other relevant programming.
