Job summary

Phipps Houses in New York is seeking an Education Coach to mentor Group Leaders, support lesson planning, and help cultivate a safe, productive learning environment in collaboration with site leadership.

This role ensures high-quality implementation of educational activities and supports youth engagement and development while aligning with COMPASS standards and the Future Builders PBL Model. Onsite presence required with background checks and occasional evening/weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in program content development, staff training, and coaching.
• Experience in youth development and activity-based learning.
• Ability to assess, guide, and elevate staff instructional performance.

Job description

The Education Coach is responsible for actively mentoring Group Leaders by providing support with lesson planning and classroom management. The Education Coach will work under the guidance of the Education Content Specialist and will work closely with site leadership to help develop and cultivate a safe and productive learning environment as well as a caring and positive site culture.

This role ensures high-quality implementation of educational and enrichment activities by providing professional support to frontline, direct service staff. The Education Coach will help ensure that all program activities align with COMPASS standards and the Future Builders PBL Model, as well as support youth engagement, learning, and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe program sessions to assess instructional effectiveness and provide targeted feedback to staff.
• Provide ongoing coaching to direct service staff.
• Support staff in aligning activities with developmental benchmarks, cultural relevance, and program outcomes.
• Ensure alignment with our project-based Future Builders model.
• Help implement systems for monitoring content quality and consistency across all program areas.
• Maintain accurate documentation of curriculum materials, staff observations, and training activities.
• Participate in program evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.
• Establish a comfortable learning environment and implement clear, consistent age-appropriate expectations and rules.
• Model appropriate child development practices.
• Uphold program policies, procedures, and proper use of supplies and materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Education Content Specialist.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 2 years of college course work required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in program content development, staff training, and coaching.
• Demonstrated experience in youth development and activity-based learning.
• Ability to assess, guide, and elevate staff instructional performance.
