Upwork is seeking an excellent editor to independently manage editorial coverage during live technology events. You will coordinate writers, ensure accuracy of names and terms, and push articles from assignment to publication.

You will edit for clarity and grammar, format for WordPress, and maintain trackers in Google Sheets. Occasional writing duties may arise as well.

A well-known enterprise IT company is looking for an excellent editor who can independently manage editorial coverage during live technology events. You'll coordinate writers, catch the details others miss, and keep articles moving from assignment to publication.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Edit and proofread articles for clarity, structure, grammar, and consistency with our style guide.
• Verify names, titles, companies, technical terminology, and source material.
• Coordinate writer assignments and deadlines during event coverage, following up proactively and resolving routine issues independently.
• Format and publish articles in WordPress, checking headlines, links, images, embedded videos, and SEO fields.
• Keep assignment trackers current in Google Sheets and coordinate corrections or updates.
• Occasionally write articles when needed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Strong professional editing experience and exceptional written English.
• Meticulous attention to detail, sound editorial judgment, and reliable follow-through.
• Confidence managing multiple writers and deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Experience with WordPress, Google Docs, Google Sheets, AP style, and basic SEO.
• Familiarity with enterprise technology, such as AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and data, is a plus.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Accurate, polished articles published on schedule; complete publishing details and assignment records; and potential delays identified and addressed early.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Remote role for U.S.-based freelancers only. Ongoing freelance engagement lasting more than six months, approximately 20-25 hours per week at $20/hour. Availability for live event coverage scheduled in U.S. Eastern and Pacific time is required.
