The New York Post, part of News Corporation, is looking for an experienced editor for a part-time Saturday shift in our NYC office. You will transform breaking copy on deadline into the Post’s bold tabloid voice for web and the Sunday print edition.

You'll mine, assign and edit a range of stories, guiding a team of award-winning reporters and in-office journos to deliver compelling local, national and international coverage with clear, accurate tone.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• A minimum of 5 years of editing in a busy newsroom.
• Comfortable editing/re-writing both breaking news and long-form stories in lively tabloid prose for web and print.
• A keen understanding of the voice of the Post.
• A knack for finding stories our readers crave.
• A critical eye for facts and tone.
• Broad knowledge base.
• Willingness to collaborate and communicate with NYC’s top journalists.

Responsibilities

• Edit and rewrite breaking copy on deadline to fit the Post’s tabloid voice for web and the Sunday print edition.
• Mine, assign and edit an array of stories on immediate deadline.
• Provide clear direction to field reporters and in-office journos.
• Coordinate with a close-knit team of NYC’s best journalists.
