Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in political commentary or editorial writing.
• Strong understanding of New York politics and national dynamics.
• Clear, direct, persuasive prose under deadline.
• Excellent editorial judgment and news sense.
• Comfort with delivering on-camera content (preferably non-teleprompter).
• Experience with WordPress or similar CMS.
• Familiarity with SEO and social media strategy.
• Strong narrative, logical, and tonal sensitivity to The Post voice.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced newsroom.

Responsibilities

• Write timely, engaging unsigned editorials under tight deadlines in The Post’s voice.
• Occasionally contribute bylined opinion columns.
• Provide on-camera opinions as video products develop.
• Pitch editorial ideas responding to breaking news and trends.
• Collaborate with editorial team to shape daily/long-term coverage.
• Monitor events across NYC, state politics, national affairs, and culture.
• Prepare copy for digital publication and print using CMS tools.
• Amplify reach via sharp headlines and social media engagement.
• Represent the editorial board in interviews, panels, or media appearances.
