Job summary

University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks part-time adjunct faculty to teach Psychology through the Dual Enrollment Program. Courses are taught in person at partnering high schools, allowing eligible high school students to earn UMES college credit and maintain rigorous academic standards.

Instructors must use the approved syllabus, deliver engaging college-level instruction, and manage materials and grades via Canvas while collaborating with school staff to support student success.

Qualifications

• Hold a master’s degree or higher in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
• Meet UMES requirements for appointment as an adjunct faculty member and approval to teach the assigned Psychology course.
• Possess the content knowledge to provide college-level Psychology instruction.
• Demonstrate effective teaching, communication, and student engagement skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency with instructional technology and Canvas LMS.

Responsibilities

• Teach UMES Psychology courses in person at designated partnering high schools.
• Deliver instruction according to the partnering school’s calendar and UMES requirements.
• Use the approved syllabus, course description, and learning outcomes for the assigned course.
• Provide access to course materials, assignments, and grades through Canvas.
• Maintain academic standards and learning outcomes comparable to UMES courses.
• Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate college-level instruction.
• Assess student learning and provide timely feedback.
• Submit grades and required documentation by deadlines.
• Communicate concerns to the UMES representative and collaborate with school staff.
