Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division in Omaha is seeking a part-time driver to provide safe transportation for youth and adults to program activities. The role requires a valid driver’s license, background checks, and completion of Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities include pre/post-trip vehicle inspections, engaging passengers in positive conversation, ensuring supervision, and assisting with snacks and program activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Must pass background checks.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with Fleet Safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect vehicles before and after routes (doors locked, fuel levels, tires).
• Pickup youth and adults safely for programs.
• Engage passengers in positive conversations during routes.
• Obey traffic laws and safety regulations at all times.
• Report discipline or behavior issues to Corps Officers.
• Ensure passengers are supervised before leaving locations.
• Return vehicle to the corps after each route.
• Organize and participate in recreational activities.
• Assist in preparing snacks or meals for participants.
• Support children's emotional and social development.
• Assist with donation pickups as directed.
• Driving is an essential function of this position.
• Other duties as assigned.
