Job Title
TheRetail Donor Greeter Iisresponsible for providing exceptional customer service by welcoming donors, accepting donations, and ensuring a positive donation experience. This role supports efficient store operations by receiving,separating, and preparing donated goods for processing,maintaininga clean and organized donation area, and following all safety and operational procedures. The Retail Donor Greeter Iworksin a fast-paced environment while helping maximize donations that support Goodwill of Silicon Valley's mission of creating employment opportunities and strengthening the community.
Job Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities
- Follow Current Standard Operating Procedures for Donation Process.
- Greet all donors within 15 seconds of arrival.
- Acceptsdonations from customers,providesphysical receipts or offers digital receiptsandthanksalldonors.
- Provideexcellent customer service.
- Depending on store procedures, sorts and arranges donations in bins to go tovarious sortingareas of the store.
- Discards broken, damaged, or trash items from raw hardline boxes.
- Invite customers to complete the CAP (Customer Ambassador Program) surveyduringcustomerinteractions, whilemaintainingprofessionalism.
- Coordinates with sorters tomaintaincontinuous product flow and ensure empty boxes are readily available for operations.
- Monitor box capacity levels and coordinatetimelyreplacement to prevent overflow or operational delays.
- Ensure the sorting area and all boxes are set up and ready prior to the sorters’ opening shift.
- Keepdonationarea wellmaintained.
- Accurately track quantity of donations during shift.
- Loads and unloads company trucks and trailers.
- Ensureall boxes have proper labeling.
- Properly loads and prepares trucks for pick up by transportation.
- Follows and enforces all company procedures.
- Stays up to date on all safety and equipment certifications as needed.
- Performs other duties asrequested.

Key Performance Indicator
- Sort 1 binof collected raw donationsevery15–20 minutesconsistently during shift.
- Employeemust receive at least 1 CAP survey per month with their name mentioned, while inviting customers to complete surveys.
- Maintain (zero) safety incidents monthly by consistently following all safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure the donation/production area is clean, organized, and fully prepared forthe next day at the end of each shift.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed on an enclosed storeroom floor.The area is heated and ventilated.Stores have a receiving area where work is performedon a dailybasis.
- Dust and dirt are controlled by daily cleaning and are insignificant. Working/standing surface is uniform. Noise and vibrations are not significant;however,radios and televisions may beturned on.

Job Setting
- The job is performed inside and outside a store with exposure to weather, noise from traffic, dust/dirt,other air-borne particles,fumesand odors. The ground around the trailer may be uneven. A trailerstands approximately four feet up fromgroundand requires climbing a set of steps. Separatinghousehold chemicals from regular donations may occur.
- Work is completed independently but in cooperation with the whole department.There is contact with thepublic.
- The noise volume is moderately high throughout the day depending on the amount of activity, equipmentin operation, radiooperationand television testing.
- Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, moveable containers/racks) may beoperatedin or nearwork areas.
PhysicalRequirements
- Theworkplaceis fast, requiring lifting and/orcarrying ofup to 50lbsconsistently.
- On aregularbasisheavier itemof up to 75lbswill be lifted. Heavy items will be moved either withassistancefrom anotherperson or by usingappropriate materialhandling equipment.
- Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform the required tasks.
- Mobility required to move within the department.
